Most people today wear some jewelry every day. Rings, earrings, watches, bracelets, even chokers and brooches are not that uncommon to see. Women especially, tend to wear jewelry everywhere they go. Wedding rings and engagement rings are rarely taken off, and other basic pieces are usually left on as well. One type of jewelry however that is not typically seen in day to day wear is the tiara. Tiara’s are like small, highly decorative crowns. Often made of silver, gold or platinum, they are usually decorated with some sort of glittering gemstone. Most often adorning the heads of princesses and brides, tiaras are rarely seen outside of weddings or the heads of royalty any more.
Every woman feels a bit like a princess on her wedding day, so it is no great wonder that tiara’s have become a regular part of brides attire. Typically a round, metal circle, worn atop the head, tiara’s can be decorated with any number of precious stones. There are tiaras which contain beads, such as the pearl and others that have crystal or rhinestones. A more valuable tiara might include a more precious gemstone, such as a diamond, sapphire, emerald or ruby. Often, these valuable gems are combined, to create a dazzling appearance, worthy or royalty! Not surprisingly, tiara’s made of real, precious gemstones are extremely expensive.
There are many antique and vintage jewelry stores that sell the more expensive tiaras. Bridal shops usually sell replicas, which are typically made out of silver or gold colored metal, rather than real gold or platinum. These pieces are then decorated with rhinestones or crystal, to help them have all of the sparkle of a more expensive tiara, for a fraction of the cost. Considering that the average woman will not get to wear her crown on any other occasion, many people opt for the less expensive replicas, which can then be kept to the side, until it is time for a daughter to get married.
Regardless of whether you chose to wear a tiara on your wedding day or not, all brides look beautiful and get to be queen for the day. Tiara’s only help accentuate the natural beauty that love and happiness cause. Few days are happier and more filled with love than a wedding day, so in reality, a tiara is merely a crowning highlight on an already beautiful occasion. Whether you wear a valuable antique or an affordable replica, the effect is the same, you are crowning an already beautiful woman!
